Marble or travertine?

Marble is denser and can be polished; its veining and smooth surface suit classic and luxurious interiors. Travertine, with its porous structure and warm beige tones, gives a softer, more natural effect. Because its texture reduces slipping underfoot, travertine is an advantage on wet floors and outdoors.

Care

Both stones are damaged by acidic cleaners; lemon, vinegar and limescale removers dull the surface. A neutral pH cleaner and an impregnating sealer once a year keep the surface looking as it did on the first day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do marble worktops stain?
Marble is porous, so without a sealer oils and acidic liquids can leave marks. Applying an impregnating sealer after installation and wiping spills promptly largely removes this risk.
Do you cut to measure?
Yes. Worktops, basins, fireplace hearths and skirtings are all cut and fitted to measurements taken on site.
