Where each stone is used

  • Slate — Its layered structure and dark tones give a rustic look. Common on fireplace faces and interior walls.
  • Split-face stone — The surface is broken to create texture, producing strong shadow play under light. Also used on façades.
  • Cultured stone — A lightweight product with the look of natural stone. As it adds no structural load it can be applied on partition and plasterboard walls.
  • Cultured brick — Gives an aged brick texture; a favourite in loft and industrial interiors.
  • Fibre panels — A very light, fast panel system. An advantage in rented premises and projects where the works must be short.

Application and care

With natural stone, surface preparation is half the result. The flatness of the wall, the right adhesive and the joint spacing all affect how long the stone lasts. Applying a water-based sealer afterwards significantly reduces staining, particularly in kitchens and outdoors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cultured stone and natural stone?
Natural stone is quarried, heavy, and every piece differs. Cultured stone is a lightweight product cast from natural stone moulds; it looks very close, weighs far less and goes up quickly. Where a wall cannot carry the load, cultured stone is the choice.
Can stone cladding be used outdoors?
Split-face stone, slate and frost-resistant cultured stone can all be used on façades. Frost-resistant adhesive and the correct joint filler are essential.
How is the price per m² calculated?
Stone type, thickness and pattern wastage determine the price. Corner pieces are charged separately by the linear metre. Send us your dimensions and we will work out the area, corners and price.
