What each firebox type is for
- Straight firebox — Visible from one side; the most common type. Gives the classic built-in fireplace look.
- L-shape (corner) firebox — Glazed on two faces, sits in the corner of the room. Saves space in smaller living rooms.
- U-shape firebox — Glazed on three faces, peninsula style. Shows the flame from almost every angle.
- Tunnel firebox — Built between two rooms and visible from both. Popular between living room and kitchen or dining area.
- Three-sided firebox — A prismatic corner solution with a wide glass area, suited to modern interiors.
- Lift-door firebox — The glass door slides upward, so it does not block you while loading wood.
Domestic or imported?
Our domestic fireboxes can be built to measure and spare parts and service reach you quickly. Imported Kratki fireboxes stand out for their series-production standard, wide glass areas and gas-fired options. Which one fits depends on the dimensions and the budget, and is settled during the survey.
What to look for
The kW rating for the volume being heated, glass width, flue outlet diameter and body wall thickness are what matter. Heating a room with an oversized firebox does not add comfort — only fuel consumption.

What kW rating should a firebox have?
As a rough guide, allow about 1 kW for every 10 m² in a well-insulated home. For a 100 m² living room, 8–10 kW is usually enough. Ceiling height and insulation change this figure; it is calculated precisely during the survey.
Can a firebox be fitted inside my existing fireplace?
In most cases yes. Placing a firebox inside an open fireplace improves efficiency markedly. If the recess dimensions and flue diameter are suitable, it can be done without disturbing the existing cladding.
